Get home safe
A dark street, someone walking towards you. You are on the phone – seemingly. In fact the app is listening for your signal phrase.
- Fake call with diary
- Silent alarm with live location
- Rescue call by shaking or the Action button
Kinpal is an app for iPhone and Android – free to download, extras as a one-time purchase – that makes you look busy: a real-looking chat, a phone call or an audiobook. People who look busy get approached less. And if it does get serious, one sentence silently alerts the people you trust.
Free download · safety always free · extras one-time · no subscription
The idea came from a woman who walks home from the gym every night. The app is built for anyone who sometimes just does not want to be approached.
A dark street, someone walking towards you. You are on the phone – seemingly. In fact the app is listening for your signal phrase.
Train, waiting room, lift, taxi, the seat next to you on a plane: with Kinpal you look busy without doomscrolling.
Kinpal adapts to your phone: on an iPhone everything looks like iPhone, on Android like Android – light and dark.

Jokes, quotes, stories – with typing dots and real sounds. Any key can type a ready-made reply.

One tap, a shake or the Action button – a few seconds later your phone rings. The caller says your text.

You talk freely, the app keeps a diary and listens for your signal phrase.

Earphones in: looks like an audiobook and reads stories to you.
Nobody around you can see that you are getting help.
A sentence that sounds normal in a call – like “say hi to aunt Edna for me”. The app recognises it and raises a silent alarm.
Your trusted contacts get a notification and follow your way live – in the app or in any browser, even without the app.
From the Action button: video recording, walk recording, alarm and emergency number at a glance.
You see how many contacts really received the alarm – not just that it was sent.
Your way home is recorded, together with what you said along the way.
Anyone who wants to be there for you installs Kinpal for free and gets your alarm by push.

Kinpal is an app for iPhone and Android – free to download, extras as a one-time purchase – that makes you look busy on your phone – with a real-looking chat, a fake phone call or an audiobook. It helps on the way home and anywhere you would rather not be approached. Underneath is a silent safety net: a signal phrase you choose yourself alerts your trusted contacts with your live location during the call.
Start a fake call in Kinpal. The screen looks like a real call, you talk freely and the app can keep a diary. Say your signal phrase and a silent alarm with your live location goes to your contacts.
Yes. Kinpal shows a chat, a phone call or an audiobook player you use with earphones. People approach you less on the train, in waiting rooms or lifts – without doomscrolling, because the app reads real content to you.
No. Kinpal notifies your trusted contacts and shares your live location. In acute danger, call your local emergency number – the button is always one tap away in the app.
The call looks like your phone's own and rings with a real tone. If you like, the app quietly speaks replies into the earpiece.
You choose a sentence you would never say otherwise but that sounds normal in a call. If it comes up during a fake call, a silent alarm goes out. There is deliberately no default phrase. Speech recognition runs on the device wherever that is supported.
Only if you want: after the signal phrase or in emergency mode. Recordings stay on your phone.
Everything that protects you in an emergency is free: emergency mode, signal-phrase alarm, rescue call, live location and trusted contacts. The full version is a one-time in-app purchase of 2.99 USD, and much less in many countries. There is no subscription and no advertising.
Kinpal needs no account. Diary, walks and recordings stay on your phone. Only during an alarm are your displayed name and your location sent to the alarm server so your contacts can find you. They are deleted automatically 48 hours after the alarm starts.
Kinpal launches in 15 languages: English, German, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian, Turkish, Polish, Arabic, Hindi, Bengali, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Swahili and Chinese.
Very much so. Many people use Kinpal every day so they are not approached on the train, in waiting rooms or lifts – without getting lost in social media.
We are looking for 12 people with an Android phone to try Kinpal for two weeks. Google requires this before a new app can go on the Play Store. iPhone testers are welcome too.
How it works: tell us which phone you have. For Android we need the email address of your Google account. You get an invitation link, everything that protects is free anyway, and your feedback goes straight into the next build.
